History

Founded in 2021 in Goyave, on the road to Sainte-Claire, the Papa Rouyo distillery was born from the alliance between a collective of cane planters and the descendants of Charles Albert Ruscade, nicknamed Papa Rouyo, an emblematic figure of Guadeloupean agriculture. This young distillery is distinguished by its attachment to local roots and its artisanal standards.

Rum Overview

Made from the B80689 and R579 cane varieties, this rum was distilled in 2022 in a Charente pot still, guaranteeing great aromatic precision. Aged for 30 months in sherry casks, Papa Rouyo Viraj illustrates a style where youth and maturity coexist harmoniously, offering an elegant and singular profile.

Its tasting reveals a palette that is both lush and refined, oscillating between complexity and simplicity. Between typical West Indian notes and Iberian influences from the sherry cask, this rum expresses a refined and promising balance.

The Papa Rouyo adventure is the result of the work of a collective of Moule planters in Guadeloupe who, eager to enhance their sugar cane, share the same passion for the transmission and traditional know-how of sugar cane cultivation.
