Haitian clairin in its most authentic form

For centuries, clairin production in Haiti has been based on artisanal methods preserved through more than 500 small rural distilleries. With the project The Spirit of Haiti, Velier enhances this unique heritage by offering bottlings without filtration or reduction, faithful to their original identity. This cuvée pays tribute to the Vaval producer and the terroir of Cavaillon, in the south of Haiti.

Tropical ageing in ex-Caroni barrels

Distilled in a pot still from pure Madame Meuze cane juice, this Vieux Vaval 8 Year Old 2018 Ex-Caroni Cask VA17CR-4 has been aged entirely in a tropical climate for eight years in a single ex-Caroni barrel. Bottled at 47.3%, this single cask limited to 161 bottles illustrates the clairin's ability to evolve with depth and elegance over time.

Flavour profile

The nose combines green mango, bagasse and varnished wood, accompanied by herbaceous and floral nuances. The palate reveals a slightly creamy texture, carried by notes of anise, muscovado sugar and geranium. The finish, persistent and dry, evolves on kaffir lime, cardamom and lavender with a delicately spicy freshness.

Clairin

Made only in Haiti, Clairin is a brandy produced from sugar cane, just like agricultural rum.
