Sonson, Haitian artisan distiller

The Clairin Sonson is produced by an artisan distiller whose nickname gives its name to this cuvée. Like all the clairins selected by Velier, the cane is grown in the traditional way without chemical inputs, the juice is fermented spontaneously thanks to the natural yeasts present in the environment, and the distillation is done in a rudimentary still. No added sugar, colouring or flavouring – the clairin is bottled as is.

A fruity and accessible profile

The Sonson Clairin is often considered one of the most accessible in the range. This 2023 batch offers a greedy nose of ripe banana, mango, tropical flowers and fresh cane. The palate is round and fruity, with notes of yellow fruits, honey, natural vanilla and a slight salinity. The finish is sweet and persistent. An excellent entry point into the fascinating world of Haitian clairins.
