Rhum J.M

Located in the north of the island of Martinique and at the foot of Mount Pelée, the Rhumerie J.M distills and raises old J.M. rums. It was in 1914 that Jean-Marie Martin, who gave his name to JM rums, sold the property to Gustave Crassous de Médeuil.

Today, the company exploits the two main agricultural crops of Martinique, banana and sugar cane, on 150ha of AOC land. Their fierce desire to preserve artisanal methods of exploitation and production, respecting proven know-how, is a guarantee of the exceptional quality of the rums produced. Distributed in more than thirty countries, J.M aged rums have been considered by connoisseurs for many years to be the best in the world.

Discover the incredible story and craftsmanship of Rhum JM, one of the most famous brands from Martinique. Immerse yourself in the world of white, amber, and aged rums within a unique ecosystem that contributes to their global success. Enjoy delicious cocktails and explore the different ranges from this iconic distillery.

The Origins of Rhum J.M

Rhum JM was born in a very particular environment: thanks to the trade winds, abundant rainfall, and extremely rich volcanic soil, sugar cane grows under ideal conditions to give rise to exceptional rums. Founded in the 19th century, the distillery initially focused on sugar production before being taken over by Jean-Marie Martin, its creator, whose initials give the brand its name. Today, JM's reputation is such that these two letters make the hearts of rum enthusiasts from around the world beat faster.

White, Amber, and Aged Rum: a Diverse Range for All Tastes

The selection of JM rums revolves around several categories:

  • White Rum: perfect for your cocktails or ti-punches, JM white rum highlights the freshness of sugarcane and the characteristic floral notes of the house's rums.
  • Amber Rum: continuing to age in wooden barrels, these rums reveal more complex and indulgent aromas. They are often used to add a new dimension to cocktails but can also be enjoyed neat or on the rocks.
  • Aged Rum: aged for at least 3 years, JM aged rums stand out with even more intense woody, spicy, and fruity notes. Depending on their vintage and aging duration, they offer an extraordinary flavor profile that delights connoisseurs of high-end rum and other spirits.

L'Atelier des Rhums: When Rhum J.M Joins Your Cocktails

For all mixology enthusiasts, JM has created the L'Atelier des Rhums range, which brings together rums specially designed to express specific aromatic profiles:

  • Fumée Volcanique: an amber rum with mineral and slightly smoky notes, ideal for adding character to your creations.
  • Jardin Fruité: an amber rum highlighting fruity and tangy flavors, perfect for crafting fresh and indulgent cocktails.
  • Épices Créoles: an amber rum rich in spices and warm notes, offering an exotic and spicy touch to your drinks.

Unique Finishes for Even More Flavor Surprises

JM continues to innovate and regularly offers limited editions or collaborations with other producers to provide unique flavor experiences. One of the most notable examples is the series of aged rums that have undergone finishing in Calvados casks, creating unexpected encounters between Norman and Antillean terroirs.

Choosing the Right Rhum J.M for You

To make the right choice among the extensive selection of JM rums, several criteria should be considered:

  • Your Personal Taste: depending on whether you prefer the fresh and herbal flavors of white rums, the indulgent aromas of amber rums, or the intensity of aged rums, explore the range that best suits your preferences.
  • Intended Use: if you plan to create cocktails, prioritize rums from L'Atelier des Rhums or white rums. For pure sipping or on the rocks, opt for a vintage aged rum or a Single Barrel, which will enhance your experience.
  • Your Budget: JM rums are available at different price points, from more affordable versions for a gentle introduction to limited and numbered editions for collectors and discerning enthusiasts.

Regardless of the chosen range, Rhum J.M guarantees an unforgettable gustatory journey into the aromatic richness of Martinique. So don't hesitate any longer and treat yourself to these precious nectars with their unique and captivating flavors.
