The other great Guatemalan rum

The family Botran been producing rum in Guatemala since 1939. The 18 Solera 1893 is made from virgin cane honey and aged at altitude according to a Solera system in casks that have contained sherry, port and bourbon. Sharing the same methods as its famous neighbor Zacapa, Botran offers a quality alternative that is often less known but just as remarkable.

Elegance at altitude

The nose is rich and seductive: vanilla, butterscotch, honey, dried fruit and fine wood. The palate is velvety and harmonious, with flavours of milk chocolate, raisins, toasted almonds and sweet spices. The finish is long and silky. A high-quality rum often considered one of the best alternatives to Zacapa, with a great price-performance ratio.

Our tasting notes for 18 Solera 1893

Nose : Mocha coffee, apple tarte tatin, caramel and rolling tobacco with vanilla, dark chocolate and light cinnamon.

Palate : Rich and slightly sweet, buttered fruit cake containing plump raisons, gingernut biscuit with lightly cinnamon spiced dry oak and salty caramel.

Finish : Cracked black pepper and candied ginger spiced caramel and fudge cake.
